Governor's Update
My name is Cheryl Erickson and I am the incoming Governor of the TexHoma District. I grew up in Optimism. I joined my local club, the
Arlington Optimist Club in Arlington, TX, when I was 18 years old. However, I was
always around the Arlington Optimist Programs even when I was younger due to my
brother playing sports in their program and my dad being an active member. I have
been involved in different leadership positions in the former North Texas District and am
excited to be the second-ever Governor of the TexHoma District. Personally, I love cats
(NOT dogs!), read books in what little spare time I have and love watching sports (Go
Rangers! Go Mavs! and Go Stars!). I recently finished my doctorate in School Psychology
after I decided in my early 30s that I wanted to make a complete career change. I went
from teaching middle school to being a licensed psychologist. Right now, that work
definitely keeps me busy!
I am excited to continue the immediate past Governor Stephanie’s work of bringing the
TexHoma district together. I am excited to get out and meet the clubs and members to
see all the amazing work that you all are doing in your communities. I want to continue
connecting with clubs, and my hope is you will want to connect back with us by
attending our district conferences and conventions. Please continue the great work
you are already doing, and let us have a fabulous year!!!
